Wow! First 5 LA family literacy was well represented at the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) Conference in San Diego this month. Workshop presenters included staff from FLSN, AIR, and Long Beach. Staff from Rowland, 15th Street, Hawthorne, Hope St., Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center, Pomona/Fairplex, and LAUSD were also in attendance.
Congratulations to the Long Beach Family Literacy Program for winning the poster session contest at the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) Conference! The poster session topic “Calendar Power” was presented by their adult education teacher. Carolyn Blocker highlighted ways to use calendars to involve parents in all four family literacy components. The program was awarded $100.
Kudos to Shenandoah Family Literacy for a very successful Community Open house during the month of March. What a great way to update current partners and engage new community partners in support of Shenandoah family literacy efforts.
